(Interestingly, I attended The American Party National Committee meetings here in the late 70's. At one meeting we asked Congressman Larry McDonald(D-Ga)to be our candidate for President. He refused because he knew that he couldn't win and rather than loose his Congressional seat he thought it would be better to stay in Congress where he could be more effective. He was so effective that he was killed on Korean Flight 007 when it was shot down by Russian fighters. It was a tragic loss to those of us in the Conservative Movement.)
